Main Features
- A unique layout with 31 keys for typing Malayalam. The easy to learn layout arranges Malayalam letter keys in alphabetical order.
- Also includes QWERTY and number-symbol keypads.
- Malayalam character keys are arranged in alphabetical order.
- Suitable for small and large displays with any resolution, in portrait or landscape mode.
- Easily input koottaksharam with a single tap using the scrollable koottaksharam list shown above the keyboard.
- Word prediction feature. The list should be manually created during typing, and feature number 5 will be disabled if prediction is enabled.
- Can also be used on Android versions that do not support proper Malayalam rendering, for sending Unicode Malayalam text by SMS or email.
Usage
- Keys in light blue colour, shown in the second last row, are for selection only. For example, the light blue key "അ" is for selecting അ to ഐ, which will be displayed in the third row of the keypad. The light blue "ക" key displays ക to ഞ in the third row, and so on.
- Use the "ABC" key to launch the QWERTY keypad.
- Use the "123" key to get the number and symbol keys.
- To set Malayalam Keyboard for Android as your default keyboard, open Settings > Language and input, then select Malayalam Keyboard for Android as your default keyboard.
- To add a new word, with maximum character limit 50, to the prediction database, tap on the specified word, which is the first word in the list displayed above the keypad.
- Use the keyboard key at the bottom left to close the keypad, or long press on it to change the default input method.
Notes
Enter characters in Unicode encoding format.
- For writing കോ [ko], use this order: ക + ോ. For writing കൈ, use ക + ൈ.
- For writing koottaksharam, use chandrakkala for joining characters. For example: ക്ഷ = ക + ് + ഷ.
- While using the "ra" symbol, for example പ്ര [pra], use it after typing the letter for correct rendering.
